A cellular unit is a wireless security device that does not rely on your phone line to notify our monitoring station of a break in.  This is a great option because it will notify our monitoring station  regardless of if your phone lines have been cut.  If you currently have a security system in place, this is an easy upgrade. If you are paying monthly for a home phone service just for your alarm this will alleviate your need for a home phone service, ultimately saving you money.

If you do not have an alarm system and are considering having one installed, be sure to ask about Cellular Units when designing your security system. There is usually an additional up-front cost for the unit itself and a slightly increased monitoring fee, but well worth it if you calculate the added peace of mind knowing that your security system can't be disabled by cutting your outside phone line.  You can also use a cellular unit as a back-up to an existing land line. If your regular phone system goes out for any reason, the security system will automatically switch to cellular communication and alert the monitoring station in the event of an emergency.
